Kid Friendly Ice Cream Shop Remodel

How do you re-design an ice cream parlor to make it more child friendly for family and friends? Here are some of the things we did. First, we selected a colorful palette that is gender neutral. The vivid orange walls instantly brighten the room with energy. Then, blue being the complimentary color of orange outlines the border with good contrast. Stainless steel chair rails and floor base add sparkle to the space. Channel style settee bench adds more colors to the wall. Toward the front, two playful baseball mitten style lounge chairs help anchor the two conversational areas. Bright yellow color lounge chairs complete the playful set. Keeping the existing flooring and ceilings, the ice cream parlor is completely transformed with a new color palate and kid friendly furniture.

South San Francisco Sushi Restaurant Remodel

In this project, space is separated into two elongated dining rooms. To emphasize the lengthy space, stripe patterned carpet is used to add bold graphics on the floor. Carpet tiles are ideal choices to any project that’s limited on budget but in need of big style. With a little more than $2 per-square-foot, the stripes are adding tremendous energy into the new space. On the east side are silver opaque drapes hung from the ceiling which not only divide the individual dining tables with a touch of privacy, but also help layer the space with texture and warmth. At the sake back bar, three-dimensional rectangles clash together randomly; Some extend out deep enough to become wine shelves with built in led lights. From a distance, the wine shelves would blend in with the rest of the rectangles, so the wine would seem to be free standing on the wall. To add in the romantic touches, 1 set of crystal pendant track light and a few elegant chandeliers are installed. To create another interesting seating area, 3 custom booths are built. 6-8 guests can be comfortably seated in these booths for private gatherings, drinking and chit chatting. In this project, simplicity and modern elements are warmed up by soft and romantic lighting, which dramatically updated this old Mexican bistro to a hip and stylish Japanese restaurant.

Casual Elegant Restaurant and Bar Remodel

The design concept is “Updated Rustic” and “Casual Elegance”.

This project is a renovation for an existing restaurant, quite a challenge due to budget constraints therefore the transformation was focused more on repainting and refinishing.

The metal ball ornament around the chandeliers in the dining room is custom sculptured of inexpensive cable material, providing dramatic effect and a lot of bang for the bucks. The lighting fixtures were replaced without relocating from their original positions to avoid electrical works. The existing bricks are being white washed and sealed off with water resistant top coat to provide a newer, cleaner, bigger and more airy atmosphere. Several items are kept as well such as the chairs and the flooring which saved a lot of money. New rustic, industrial style bar tools are added. The table is replaced with black granite tops with stainless steel legs.

Out in the sun room, a settee bench is added to create a different type of seating with pillows to exude comfort ability. Luxurious looking mosaic tiles are used only in small areas for highlights. With little effort, this dated bistro is ready to serve delicious meals and drinks to the patrons again in a casual elegant atmosphere.

International hip dessert kiosk design

Have you ever tried cotton shaved ice? Well let’s hope this kiosk hits your shopping mall soon so you may sample this trendy dessert that might replace frozen yogurt this summer! With a unique recipe and a specialty machine, frozen dessert paste turns into silky smooth shaved ice that is to be served with fresh fruits and other delicious toppings. To cope with the theme, we have designed the kiosk to mimic an ice cube. With a white box being the backdrop, circles lit up with blue led lights penetrate into the surface, some acting as window for ventilation and others act as poster niches that show case pictures of the desserts. Colorful wall papers inside of the niches act as backdrops to the dessert pictures and add interest to the design. The logo rests on the front of the white cube with led light behind it, adding emphasis and highlight to the brand. From a distance, this ice cube is still eye catching, which will not confuse anyone of its products and brand.

Mexican Grill Restaurant Interior Design

The concept of casual fresh Mexican Grill may have been excessively popular here locally in California as the owner is introducing the new Californian flavors to Nantes, France. The French patrons can now get a taste of the refreshing cuisine in a casual and modern atmosphere. The design concept for the interior of this project is organic, refreshing, clean and contemporary. Cork flooring is used in the dining room to not only provide a soothing pattern visually, it also provides padding and comfort to your feet as you step into the restaurant. Synthetic grass along with pebble tiles are also used in several areas on the floor in order to bring the outdoor in. Decorative wheat grasses are placed in oval shaped planters hung on the higher ends of several walls to bring in more natural elements to the bright white palette. Up lighting installed in the planter boxes will provide interesting highlights and reflections to the ceiling, making the 8’-0” high space to look taller and more open. Brown and white photographs are printed as wall papers to dress up two of the focal walls to further introduce the culture of the restaurant. >> Facade Design for this project

Mexican Grill Restaurant Facade Design

This is a complete renovation project in Nantes France, converting a long gone restaurant into a new refreshing California Mexican Grill. Being the third design team coming in to rescue this project, the design challenge here to revive this worn-out façade in order to welcome customers inside to enjoy a fast delicious meal. The design concept is contemporary, casual, eye catching while still being organic, and refreshing. Overall the architectural language here is sleek; there are quiet moments where you see big panels of tempered glasses that suggest minimalism. However, there are also dynamic moments when blocks of planters and other decorative pieces in dark wenge color laminate start to take place to give the façade more depth and dimensions. Red color walls pop against the dark wenge color laminate and catches people’s attention from far away. LED signs become the focal points that identify the restaurant in style. This is really a nice update to the existing historic building.

Neigborhood Friendly Homey Turkish Restaurant

The goal of this project is too keep as many existing elements as possible while enhancing and polishing the personality of the space. Located in the vibrant Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, the design concept is a neighborhood friendly, homey, rustic, Turkish restaurant. To help anchor and bring balance to the space, the designer selected two enormous antique wood chandeliers to bring in some character. The roll of arches on the east wall is dressed up in style with Turkish pattern wall paper. The same pattern wall paper is being used to frame up the owner’s existing artwork, making them more substantial and architectural. The walls are painted in warmer mustard and olive beige colors in order to create that cozy, wine drinking atmosphere. Rustic wood pattern laminate floor is also another nice addition to this quick and easy restaurant remodeling project.

American Restaurant Tahiti

This is an American fast food restaurant in Tahiti! The design concept for this is a retro American diner with a modern twist. Color concept is red and yellow, just like the color of ketchup, cheese and fries. However, to open up the space, the ceiling is painted blue with hidden white fluorescent light to replicate a breezy sunny Tahiti sky. Old school black music discs are plastered on the walls with custom printed retro art in the middle to show case some of the special menu items of the restaurant. Brown and white patterns on the floor and wall replaces the traditional black and white, which updates the look. Glossy yellow diner chairs add punches of color, funk and reflection to the already playful space. This is a great place to bring generations together while munching your favorite burger and sipping away cold drinks all year long.

Hip, Industrial and Furturistic Hot Dog Place

The design concept of this hotdog place is visual representation of the past, present and the future. The past is symbolized by the retro style chairs and floor; the present is being iconalized by the stainless steel columns on the east wall and the colorful hip LED lights, while the UFO looking soffit corresponds to the future. The brick wall design adds a bit of an industrial feel and contrast to the bright colors that filled the rest of the space. The result: very current, unique looking and hip hotdog place that will catch customer’s every bit of attention from the street.

Contemporary Indian Restaurant

This project is a sophisticated and modern Indian restaurant with a business concept that emphasizes organic ingredients, herbs and spices. To articulate that concept in the interior design, herbs became the center display here. Different colors of herbs are showcased in glass containers that are displayed in an eye catching lotus shape wall cabinet. The herbs are not only appetizing to the eyes, they also add texture and dimension to the wall. Lotus is an iconic element in Indian culture which is being reflected faintly here on the built in cabinet and on the top arches of the VIP room dividers. The colorful china hung on the east wall mimic the same pattern, rhythm, and texture presented by the herbs which all together create a cohesive design. The wines also became part of the wall décor that add more texture and pattern. More to it is the settee bench that not only adds more color to the room, but also acts as the divider that separates the dining room and the service line. Mosaic tiles with golden shimmers are the final details that accent the Indian style with sophistication. The furniture is modern and chic, from the granite table tops down to the stream lined upholstered chairs. Reflective surfaces bounce light and exudes a more airy and contemporary feel that will surely keep customers coming back, not just for the delicious food but also for the refreshing atmosphere.

Modern Falafel Fast Food Restaurant Design

FI is a falafel shop that serves fresh vegetarian selections with herbs and spices. The project is still at a conceptual stage where the owner is actively looking for a space around the central California Area. His back ground with gourmet food cooking adds special touches to the forte Middle Eastern sandwiches. Herbs become the center of focus in this design as they are being displayed and showcased on the wall and floor that not only add color and texture to the interior, but are also appetizing in a casual dining environment. The contrasting colors represent colors of the herbs and spices that are soft enough for the eyes of the everyday customers.

E.S Modern Japanese Fast Food Restaurant

E.S is a modern restaurant in North Carolina that serves casual Japanese food at a comfortable setting. Orders will be placed at the front counter and served at tables where customers will seat themselves unreservedly. The restaurant is divided into three sections, the booth area, the sake bar area and the center family gathering area. With a little more than 125 seats, this restaurant is definitely a place to relax with good quality food, sake wine and a modern atmosphere.

Burger Joint Design

This is an elegant upscale burger joint that will open in one of the Middle Eastern countries. The design concept is contemporary elegance with hints of American and Middle Eastern influences. Blue jean fabric is used to upholster round channels on the walls to enhance acoustical comfort. Burgundy and orange color walls and ceiling together mimic ketchup and cheese. A dome shape recessed ceiling emulates the top bun of a burger. The mini white pendants not only add sparkles to the space, but also imitate the sesames on the bun.

F and C Modern Fast Seafood Restaurant

F and C is a modern fast seafood restaurant that specializes in fish and shrimp burgers, tacos, burritos and salads. They started off as a popular local restaurant in Houston Texas serving food that combines taste, quality and comfort. Seeing great success with the first business, the owner is ready to enlarge his operation to serve more hungry customers. It was Projects A to Z’s honor to help design his second location, present the rendering and secured a very popular location in the area. We really hope to hear more good news from them and possibly see them open here on California!

Eclectic Coffee And Wine Bar

The design concept for this project is all about being casual and classy at the same time. Setting foot inside of a historic building, the design avoids ultra contemporary elements but instead, welcomes a rich mixture of traditional and industrial design components. A full service wine bar is connected next to the espresso bar, where hot and cold deli will be served. Whether you are up for a cup of cappuccino in the morning, glass of zinfandel at lunch, sangria in the early afternoon or cabernet in the evening, you can expect to enjoy it in a casual but yet classy environment.

Modern Grill and Salads Restaurant Design

In this new project, modern meets functionality and style. Planes emerge and form different surfaces at different angles to outline the different functions of the space such as the cook line, the service line and the order line. Cool toned colors such as green, blue and grey are complimented with warm textures such as suede effect paints, patterned carpet tiles, brown and sage stained concrete floor, wenge and birch finish wood tones, brown leathers and yellow vinyl fabrics. The end result is a classy, hip, and relaxing environment for an enjoyable linger.

Napa Mediterranean Restaurant Design

Locate in the downtown area of Napa, Tarla Grill strives to serve indulging Mediterranean food and beverage to the guests who are ready for a relaxing linger. An enormous lengthy bar counter anchors the wine bar and open kitchen on the west side. Warm teak patterned laminate dresses up the dropped ceiling and the wine bar to give the restaurant a clean but convivial look. Wine bottle style pendants are hung underneath the dropped ceiling to add touches of elegance and character. Multi-dimensional stone tiles bring texture and interest to the space. On the east side, four oversized tangerine barn doors flange on the stone wall to bring in the updated farm style. The super stylish chandeliers resemble to clusters of bubbles and sparkles in wine. This is a playful reminder to emphasize the Napa Wine theme. Tangerine and olive color accents together are not only appetizing, but also very Californian and Mediterranean.

Lago Grill is a small Mexican To Go place in the city of Oakland. The design concept is Futuristic and Welcoming Mexican Cuisine. The limited square footage of the space triggers tremendous creativities by our design team. Prefabricated cabinets are used to maximize the budget while providing function and aesthesis to the space. Layers of different geometries and materials with different textures co-mingle d to produce an eye catching, highly stylish, clean and functional environment.

American Fast Food Restaurant

Serving “Comfort Fast Food” is the business concept of Rustler’s Grill. Located in a diverse shopping complex where big names like Chevy, Applebee, Olive Garden and Red Lobsters are situated, the owner of Rustler’s Grill aims to create a refreshing image to start off his very first franchise fast food joint setting foot here in Vallejo. “Comfort food is all about hearty dishes shared by families and friends. It lifts our spirit…when we are down and nourishes us when we are happy. It is the food that we crave to take us back to our memories…of the more relaxed and carefree times of youth. “ Written by the owner and custom printed on the wall papers, the scripts have become graphic arts that are not only decorative, but also informative, outlining the business motto is a direct and yet playful way.

Cuban Café Design

Located in the vibrant downtown area of Concord, Cuba Linda Café is bringing casual Cuban cuisine to the dynamic food district. While recalling their childhood memories, Cuban scenery and food, the owners aspire to build a welcoming, rustic and exciting café that will bring the Caribbean inspired atmosphere to their customers here in Concord, California. The designer uses Cuban Havana cement tiles to accent the new columns on the focal wall. Spanish style tiles with similar pattern and color are also used to accent other design features throughout the dining room. Four different stain colors are used to outline different wood works. Dark blue jean color stain is used on the focal counter to bring casualness to the friendly environment. Spanish design inspired arches add architectural interest to the west wall. The new fluorescent lighting effectively highlights the new turquoise ceiling which resembles the relaxing Caribbean Sea. Most of the existing recessed lighting is intentionally designed to be reused, with 6 new recessed lights underneath the new soffit to provide effective functional lighting. Cost is dramatically reduced. Building and health permits were obtained in only one month after submittal.

Modern Japanese Restaurant Design

Located in the residential area of Silicon Valley, Almaden Sushi Restaurant targets to serve family oriented customers. The layout is designed with flexibility to serve groups of 6,8,10 to even up to 20. The tables along the east wall can simply be combined to serve a large group or separated to serve couples and small families. The concept revolves around the organic elements appreciated by the Japanese culture. Resin panels with dried grass and flower inserts act as dividers along the lengthy dining room into three smaller sections that are more intimate. Elegant and yet easy to clean wavy wall panels cover the main walls in the dining room, providing smooth organic texture to act as backdrop to the quiet surrounding. The layered ceiling design adds geometric features and interests to the space. The neutral color pallet is soothing to the eye and sophisticated enough to serve young couples and their family.

Yogurt Shop Design

Located in the financial destrict of San Francisco, this Yogurt Shop quickly becomes the most popular joint in the area. With only 600 sq ft. this place functions efficiently. Customers would come in, grab their cups from the dispensers installed on the vertical plane of the wall, and circulate through the self-serve line in a curved pattern. The fresh toppings are served from a custom made prep-table that blends in with the rest of the design. The dry toppings are served from dispensing tubes hung on a curved wall. These tubes are colorful which add visual interests to the customers circulating through. The vivid colors go perfect with fruity frozen yogurt concept.

Historically Redesigned Coffee Shop

With help from the project’s designer, this coffee shop has won the “History Preservation Award” in the city of Alameda. Located in the historic site of Alameda, this little café takes you back to the industrial Paris. The copper tin ceiling, amber glass pendants, warm wood tones, earthy colors, faux stone table tops, and cast iron furniture together combine a classy but yet neighborhood friendly look. This place differentiates itself from the typical coffee shop with elegance and character.

Tapioca Express Stockon

Tapioca Express is a growing international franchise that is popular selling Asian style drinks and snacks. They are becoming increasingly popular in different communities in Northern California. For this location, we are converting a yogurt shop into a full kitchen service Tapioca Express. A new cook-line with grease interceptor is added. To maximize the client’s budget, the designer works to modify the lighting ambience based on the existing electrical condition, alter the existing layout to maximize kitchen space, and use refreshing color and low cost wall papers to outline the concept of the food joint.

Indian Restaurant Design

Located in Santa Clara, Kabob and Curry is popular for its authentic food crafting. Yet, Mr. Usman, the owner of the restaurant seeks to re-decorate his joint with modern ideas that can interpret their traditions. To cope with Mr. Usman’s vision, we have adopted the “less is more” design philosophy. “Less is more” is a post-modern design concept, which emphasizes simplicity and order. With simplified design features, guests are able to relax and enjoy the refreshing atmosphere of India. To “simplify” the traditional elements, we used 2×6 studs to replace conventional decorative moldings, and incorporated straight lines to express order rather than reusing the geometry of traditional Chandrashalas. To reflect the traditional elements, we incorporated hand crafted decors, metallic mosaics, and vibrant colors to outline the beauty and of Indian artistry. A hand crafted logo with cursive fonts becomes an eye catching focal point to call out the brand name and the culture of the restaurant. After the remodel, Kabob and Curry becomes an ethnic friendly restaurant where every day diners can enjoy their authentic Indian meals in the neighborhood.

Cozy Sleek Sushi Restaurant

Located in the Hayes Valley district of San Francisco, Otoro Sushi is known for its trendy décor and a chic atmosphere. With light Jazz in the back ground, young professionals now can enjoy some delicately made sushi and sake in a minimalistic space. A featured wall with a rimmed Otoro sign stands in front of the main entrance to welcome the customers. Blue glass pendants provide contrast lights and sharp focal points in the relatively dimmed space. Modern and sleek track lights highlight the rest of the space with contrast and interests.

Vietnamese Restaurant Design

This joint was originally a hot dog shop. The designer helped to convert this place to a Vietnamese bistro in just three months. A demolition permit was obtained in the very beginning stage. As the designer continued to complete the permit drawings, the contractors were already removing and demolishing unwanted equipments, flooring and partitions. Construction took about two months after all building permits were received. The creamy Chai and Vanilla colors were selected to enhance the diner’s appetites in order to promote sales. The use of halogen lights and soft led lights also help to soften the space up while giving it a causal and warm atmosphere. The simple and clean design gives this neighborhood shop a friendly character.

Chinese Seafood Restaurant Design

Located right at the border of Stoneridge Shopping Mall in Dublin, Tri-Valley Seafood Restaurant serves dim sum and authentic Cantonese banquets daily to the locals. With over 3000 sq ft of dining space, the restaurant is popular for hosting wedding banquets, birthday gatherings and business caterings. With Projects A to Z’s help, the restaurant is ready for an upgraded festive look to host more parties. A new contemporary wedding stage is creatively designed to readily serve as a glamorous backdrop of any wedding head tables. Two groups of led lighting enable over 12 different color combinations to accommodate the different wedding theme colors. A heavy duty hidden curtain rod is readily available to carry the weight of any backdrop fabrics. Electrical hookup is also readily available to accommodate the need of any extra backdrop lighting in the back. A new bar and entrance area is also redesigned to give an updated look to the restaurant.

Asian Restaurant Design

After interviewing the client, the designer put together a scheme that’s within the budget and carried out the “Green Garden” theme for the joint. The tables, chair, pendants, wood veneers and chair cushions were selected by our designer from the client’s source in China. The color selection, custom millworks, dropped ceiling and other architectural details were carefully designed to go with the concept of an exotic “Green Garden”. Stalks of 2×6 studs were purchased from home depot, then sawed, sanded and stained by our contractor to imitate tree trunks in the garden. The whole design avoided use of high cost materials and complicated construction methods. The scheme was a very cost effective one.

In the end, we went well at the owner’s budget and had the restaurant opened in just 6 months from the day we started the consultation.

Juice Joint Cafe

This little café used to be a Chinese togo place. The whole project was completed in three months. Because of the existing conditions of the building and the size of the project, the need of obtaining a building permit was avioded, since the structure of the building was not modified and only less than 40% of the existing light fixtures were replaced. With a few coats of paint, pendants, track lights, fans and furniture, a café was given life of its own.
